About QBCC
The QBCC is a statutory body established under the QBCC Act to regulate the building industry. Our purpose is to provide peace of mind to all people who use buildings in Queensland and to those who take part in the process to construct them. The QBCC’s role is to educate, protect and support the Queensland building and construction industry and community, which includes:
- administering licences to contractors and occupational licensees, including plumbers and drainers
- monitoring and enforcing compliance with legislation, codes and standards to protect consumers
- providing education to the industry; and
- other regulatory functions, such as managing the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme, providing dispute resolution functions and managing non-compliant building products.
