Topic Description
Challenges, designing and Installing Hydraulic Services in earthquake zones.
Some buildings are designed to withstand larger earthquakes than others, based on numerous factor such as, occupancy, post disaster function and potential environmental failures of the building.
Recent earthquakes in NZ have highlighted the importance of seismic provisions for building services, inclusive of liquefaction.
There are many challenges in both the design and installation stages where we need to consider seismic displacement of our services amongst many other things, there is no one size fits all solution for every building and requires a lot of background work to factor in seismic movement for hydraulic services.
The aim of this presentation is to provide an overview of some of the challenges and solutions we use in NZ which may be of benefit to the Australian plumbing & Hydraulic community.
